THE appointment of Supt John Moloney as the garda in charge of the Tullamore District has been confirmed this week.
Supt Moloney, who is moving from a similar post in Birr, will take up duties in Tullamore from this Thursday, July 1.
A native of Co Kilkenny but a long-time resident of Tullamore, Supt Moloney has previously served in Portlaoise and Manorhamilton as well as Tullamore.

Meanwhile, Supt Pat Murray, who was recently promoted to that rank following a spell as an inspector in Tullamore, will be moving to Gort, Co Galway, where he will have responsibility for that town, as well as stations in Ardrahan, Kilchreest, Kilcolgan, Shanaglish, Kinvara and Craughwell.
