IT all started as a one man campaign to raise fund for the Epilepsy charity Brainwave when PJ Kinahan decided to grow a beard and have it shaved off for the worthy cause.
However, the idea soon caught the imagination of P.J.'s family and friends and last Friday night a large group gathered in Gallagher's Manor, Church St for the charity shave.
Some brave souls even agreed to have their hair and beards shaved for the cause and local barbers, Tommy Clarke's of William St and Clarke's, Church St, were on hand to carry out the deed.
The event was launched on Friday night by Offaly hurling legend Joe Dooley and the proprietor of the Manor, Joe Gallagher.
P.J. would like to thank Joe Gallagher and D.J. Kool who kindly sponsored the night.
The hot towel shave was performed by Adrian O'Farrell and David Feely of Tommy Clarke's Barbers, William St while the head shave was carried out by Catherine Mills and Shirley Clarke, Clarke's, Church St., to whom P.J. extends his thanks.
