AS a task for their Leaving Certificate Applied examination the students decided they would do something that would benefit the school in the future.
After much discussion they opted to build a weather station on a part of the school garden which had not been used.
This station would benefit maths, geography and science
classes. This work took three months.
The students drew up a time plan and then they did research on a weather station.
They priced the required equipment and cleared the site and drew up a plan for the site. They also put in the foundations for the equipment, put paths around the site and placed the weather station equipment on it.
The Tullamore College students also completed a written report on the whole process.
