Edenderry Golf Club captain, Thomas Breen and secretary, Dermot Hall viewing some of the impressive array of prizes for their forthcoming open week.
EDENDERRY Golf Club launched their Annual Open Week to packed Clubhouse last weekend. In attention were Presidents Liam Corcoran and Agnes Lawless, Captains Thomas Breen and Marian Wyre, Hon. Secretary Dermot Hall, Hon. Treasurer Niall Dempsey, Committee members and a very large number of members.
Club Captain Thomas Breen opened the proceedings said "We are all looking forward to a fantastic Open Week here in Edenderry Golf, our course is in immaculate condition, our greens are in pristine condition and as fast as lighting, the fairways have a lush coat of grass and are cut tight and our bunkers are filled with beautiful white sand. Our course is really a site to behold.
'Our Clubhouse is also in great shape with caterers Michael and Eileen really putting on the style for Open Week, with new and exclusive Open Week menus ready for the occasion, a visit to the restaurant is a delight not to be missed. Our bar is ready and willing to cater for all our members and visitors needs and with the best Guinness in Ireland who can ask for anything more.
'Last but not least I would like to take this opportunity to thanking all the sponsors for their generosity to the Club and for making Open Week possible, for without the sponsors we would not be unable to afford the high standard of competition prizes presented at Open Week. All business are going through tough and demanding times and I sincerely thank all the sponsors who have supported us for Open Week and throughout the Year.
So in conclusion I thank you all for coming here tonight and look forward to meeting old friends and making new friends and enjoying the craic with the members during festival of golf."
Edenderry Golf Club Open Week
Edenderry Golf Club will host its annual festival of Golf Open week from Saturday 24th July until Monday 2nd August
The Open week programme is blended with that delicate balance of competitions to facilitate both ladies and gents who will derive the maximum enjoyment and golfing pleasure possible from this nine day of exceptional and wonderful carnival of golf.
The Open Week gets underway on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th with the men's open fourballs kindly sponsored by local businessman Matt Daly and Lawton and Foley Mitsubishi and Kia Main Dealers and on Sunday evening a nine hole singles competition will be staged for both Ladies and Gents. Presentation of prizes for Saturday and Sunday's competitions take place at 9.30pm on Sunday evening
On Monday 26th July J. J Mahon & Sons, Wholesale Beer and Spirits Merchants from Kildare town sponsor the Four Person Team Event, Ladies or Gents or any combination, this competition is always one of the most popular of the week and hopefully it will prove the same the year.
Tuesday 27th July the Kelly family sponsor the three person rumble which again caters for both ladies and Gents or any combination. A competition for relaxing game of golf and a competition not to be missed
Wednesday 28th July Mens day in Open Week, sponsored by Dermot Hall, Menswear Edenderry. Always a great competition and well worth losing a shot or two for winning. Presentation of prizes for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 9.30p.m
Thursday 29th Ladies Day in Open Week, sponsored by McGreals Jewellers, Edenderry. A two lady team event, proves very popular with the Ladies and is always well supported by neighbouring clubs. Presentation of prizes at 9.30p.m.
Friday 30th Four Person Team Event sponsored by Kelly and O'Reilly, Accountants, Edenderry. If you are looking for a fun day of golf this is it. Two scores to count, Ladies, Gent or any combination. Free burgers after nine holes. Music and craic in the evening and the presentation of prizes at 9.30pm
Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August men's Stableford Fourballs take place generously sponsored by Byrne & O'Sullivan, Solicitors on Saturday and Dempsey Insurance are the competition sponsor on Sunday. Always very well supported being a Bank Holiday Weekend
Monday 2nd August a Four Person Team Event sponsored by Patrick Larkin Bar and Lounge, Edenderry. Teams of Ladies, Gents or any combination. Always a full timesheet being a Bank Holiday Monday.
