Inclement Weather Fails To Dampen Spirits Of

THE final golf outing of Cosgrove's Golf Society for 2011, which was the Captain's Prize, was held recently in Mount Temple Golf Club.
Sixteen golfers played in extremely soft weather conditions which created a great challenge for all concerned.
Following the golf a well-deserved, well cooked meal and refreshments were enjoyed by all in Cosgrove's public house, High St, Tullamore. The presentations of prizes then took place and were awarded as follows:
1st Captain's Prize - Jim Brennan, a member of Mount Temple Golf Club, with a great score of 36 points.
2nd Prize (sponsored by Seamus Dolan) - Liam Brennan with a score of 34 points.
3rd Prize - Tony Brennan who is also a member of Mount Temple Golf Club with a score of 32 points.
4th Prize - Frank O'Reilly with a score of 28 points
5th Prize - Seamus Reynolds with a score of 26 points
6th Prize - John Lyons with a score of 22 points.
Various other prizes were given out to the remaining members and visitors. The longest drive was won by Michael Brennan and the nearest to the pin was won by Brian Dromey. Congratulations were extended to all prize winners.
The Captain, Liam Brennan, and the President, John Michael Cosgrove, also thanked all of the members and visitors who played during the year and thanked all of the sponsors for the lovely prizes they contributed.
The golf clubs played during the year, Castlebarna, Moate and Mount Temple were also thanked for their facilities.
The excellent work done by the photographer, Mr Liam O'Reilly was recognised as was the hard work of Cosgrove's staff, Chef Brian, Claudia, Trevor and Sinead.
As the first year of Cosgrove's Golf Society was a tremendous success the Society would like to finish off the year by having its Christmas gathering on this Friday, 9th December at 8.30 p.m. in Cosgrove's Bar and Lounge.
All members, visitors, friends and family are invited to attend.
