Charity Day Hosted By Tullamore Basketball Club thumbnailThe U-14 girls team at the Tullamore Basketball Club charity fun day. TT01203.

OVER 80 members attended the Tullamore Basketball Club Charity Fun day on Tuesday 27th December.
The day kicked off with the Mammys/Aunts/Older sisters game at 1pm. This game proved unexpectedly physical with a number of injuries. Eventually the Girls Mammys team were winners over the Boys Mammys team.
Plans are being made for a rematch with a full turn out expected. At 1:45 the U12 mixed teams took to the court. Three teams provided great entertainment for the supporters. At 2:45 U14 girls and boys played, altjhough it was noticeable that more girls than boys turned up at this age level. An all girls team proved strongest at this age group.
At 3:45 four U16/18 teams played a competition. John Kavanaghs selection proved succcessful over Sebastian Skuras team due in no small part to their excellent 3 point shooting . The Dads and Seniors free throw shooting competition was a good warm up for the challenge of seniors and Dads v Under 18 stars game. Many former players made a comeback for this one. Interestingly Dad John McNiff and son Conor McNiff were probably MVPs on their respective teams followed closely by the Lynams, father and son who played on the same team proving once again that class is ageless.
All money  collected on the day will be donated to Special Olympics. Thanks to SHS for the use of gym and all who contributed. The club has recently launched its new website www.tullamorebasketballclub.com. All news, fixtures and results will be posted on the website.
