THERE have is no surprises on the Offaly senior football team named to play Meath in Sunday's crunch Leinster championship showdown in Navan.
The team was released at lunch time on Thursday and is exactly as most people anticipated. Peter Cunningham has been named at midfield and Kilclonfert man, Cathal Mangan will make his championship debut at wing forward, with this duo likely to interchange during the game.
Niall McNamee will lead the attack at full forward with Anton Sullivan at centre half forward. There is also a championship debut for Shane Horan on the half forward line – the son of a Ballycumber father and Kilcormac mother, Kilmacud Crokes player, Horan declared for Offaly under the parentage rule this year and impressed during the National Football League.
Sunday's game throws in at 3.00pm and while Offaly are underdogs, there is a positive undercurrent emerging from the camp and they will travel in an optimistic frame of mind.
