Shamrocks had a 2018 to remember and last Saturday night in the Tullamore Court Hotel, a 300 strong crowd gathered to celebrate their success.
The height of that success was the Senior ‘B’ football championship while that panel also claimed the Division two league title.
Their Minor footballers also completed a league and championship double in the ‘B’ grade while the Junior footballers found success in the Division five league.
Joining them on the night also was the Ladies arm of the club and their Junior championship was also celebrated making it six titles in all claimed by the club.
The guest of honour on the night was Meath legend and All Ireland winning Captain – Graham Geraghty.
Geraghty addressed the crowd in the form of a interview with the excellent MC Paddy Guinan and chatted about his time with Meath, his memories of Offaly down through the years, his trial with Arsenal and all things GAA.
The 1999 All Ireland winning captain also presented all six sets of medals to the victorious teams and stayed around after to mingle with the teams and supporters.
Shamrocks Chairman Liam Mooney thanked everyone for their help in putting the night together and made a point of remembering the great year the hurlers had also. He went on to say that they were very close to having an even better year having lost both the Senior ‘B’ hurling league and championship finals.
The Captains of all three championship winning teams also addressed the crowd and thanked their management teams for all their work over the year.
Niall Gleeson represented the County Board on the night in his capacity as Vice Chairman and he congratulated the club on all their success throughout all the grades.
Senior ‘B’ football Captain Nigel Dunne told the crowd that the panel are not happy to go up to Senior football and just hold their own, insisting that they are intent on having serious championship challenge in 2019.
Dunne also thanked the club itself and the people of Shamrocks for the messages of support he received in the last week since leaving the Offaly Senior football panel.
After all the formalities were complete, music was provided by local band, The Secrets.
