Offaly Fine Gael TD, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has welcomed a constructive meeting in Leinster House with Government colleagues and a range of stakeholders in relation to Bord na Móna’s decarbonisation restructuring plans.
“Last Thursday week in Leinster House, there was a very productive meeting that I secured with my colleagues in Government, the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the Environment, Richard Bruton TD, the Minister for Business, Enterprise & Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD and the Minister of State for Natural Resources, Séan Canney TD. Along with representatives from Bord na Móna, the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Offaly County Council and my Oireachtas colleagues, the meeting heard how Bord na Móna intends to transition following its decarbonisation restructuring announcement recently.
“The meeting was chaired by Minister Bruton and all stakeholders have committed to work constructively with Offaly County Council’s Transition Team to ensure that we continue the positive job creation trends in Offaly, Laois and the wider Midlands region.
“This was a highly productive meeting and I welcome the commitment by all participants to reconvene in six months’ time to review the progress made to date by all stakeholders. Minister Bruton has also undertaken to engage with the Council’s Transition Team in the New Year.”
