Preparations underway for Tullamore annual St Patrick's Day Parade

PREPARATIONS are under way for this year’s Tullamore St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Parade is due to take place on Sunday 17 March and all organisations will receive a latter with specific details about the Parade in the coming weeks.

The Committee are in consultation with the Council regarding the proposals for the major road works in the town centre as this could influence the assembly point and the Parade route. Each organisation will be notified about this.

The Theme for this year is “A Vision Of The Future”. Each organisation can interpret this in many ways. It could be proposals for their own organisation or group, their plans or aspirations or what they want to achieve or change. It could also be a vision for the future of the Town, the County or Ireland as a whole, or the World ! It could also be a vision in relation to an issue such as housing, climate change, a world issue or even Brexit ! Individuals, organisations, businesses and groups can decide for themselves how they reflect this theme in their entry.

At the recent AGM the following Committee and Officers were elected; President, John O’ Toole; Chairman, Johnny O’ Connor; Vice Chairman, Martin O’ Connor; Secretary/PRO, Sean O’ Brien; Joint Treasurers, Martin O’ Connor and Ciara Kinnarney; Chief Steward, Johnny O’ Connor; On-Line Media Co-Ordinator, Ciara Kinnarney; Events Co-Ordinator, Frankie O’ Reilly; Review Stand Co-Ordinators, John Plunkett, JohnMcKeigue, Mick Plunkett, Ciara Kinnarney; Safety Officer, Johnny O’ Connor.

A Church Gate Collection for the Parade will be held this week-end on 12th and 13th January and we would like to thank the public in advance for their support.
