After much anticipation from all the Transition Year students of the Sacred Heart School in Tullamore their most looked forward to day of the year had finally arrived, the school’s 10th annual Ladies Business Lunch.
This event was held on Friday 25th January in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore. This year the students were very honoured and grateful to have the Head of Forecasting at Met Eireann, Evelyn Cusack as their keynote speaker.
Evelyn Cusack is the Head of Forecasting at Met Eireann, having worked there since 1981, and also served as a well known RTE weather presenter since 1988. Being born in Clonaslee, Co.Laois, she completed her education in UCD, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Physics and Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Physics. Cusack joined the Irish Meteorological services in 1981 and has since been voted Ireland’s favourite weather forecaster.
Both the teachers and students of the Sacred Heart School were very thrilled to have Miss Evelyn Cusack as their special guest at their annual Ladies Business Lunch 2019. She gave a very inspirational speech and touched on topics such as future career options and subject choice. She also touched on how obstacles in your career path can often turn out for the better. She was extremely impressed with the Transition Year students and their work effort and wished them the very best of luck in their future careers. Muireann Carton and Sophie Ryan were especially congratulated for their beautiful harp repertoire.
This year’s four CEO’s, Niamh Conroy (Cntrl Ltd.), Karen Peilow (Lettuce Eat Ltd.), Ellen Crowley (Art and Soul Ltd.) and Anna Jolly (Be Our Guest Ltd.) have been working really hard along with their teacher Ms.Breda Hand, for the past number of weeks leading up to this event, to ensure the successful running of the 10th annual Ladies Business Lunch.
The students are very thankful towards the Bridge House Hotel Tullamore for the lovely meal and for allowing them to use their venue, and to all the management and staff of the Sacred Heart School for valuing this event and for helping organise this very successful lunch. The students would especially like to express their gratitude to Miss Evelyn Cusack for taking her time to come and talk to the girls and really inspiring them. They felt very honoured and privileged to have her attend their lunch.
