The members of Tullamore Lions Club are most appreciative of the wide range of top class facilities that exist in Tullamore for sporting and healthy activities of all kinds.

As a community service organisation, the club seeks to support and encourage the further development of sporting and exercise facilities in the town. The Tullamore Sports Link, the first phase of which is now in use, is a very good example of a new facility that is proving its value already.

Conceived in 2010 when the Camogie Club, the Ladies Gaelic Football Club and the GAA came together with the aim of providing a brand new sports facility for Tullamore and its environs. The Town Council leased a ten acres site at Arden, known locally as Dr. Kelly’s field, to Tullamore Sports link. Two playing pitches and a perimeter-walking route have been developed and are already catering for nearly fifty teams. Parents who bring their children to training and matches can exercise too by using the walking route. The facilities can be used for any number of community and charity activities and is already a valuable addition to the wide range of sporting facilities in Tullamore.

The new facility is particularly welcome by the growing number of girls and women who are participating in field sports and in taking part in healthy exercise.

Tullamore Sports Link is managed by an eight person Board, made up of two members of the three founding clubs and two community interest directors nominated by the local council.

By way of appreciation and encouragement, Tullamore Lions Club has made a donation of €1,000 to Tullamore Sports Link.
