Upwards of 2000 people walked from Darkness into Light last Saturday morning, May 11, for the 6th DIL event hosted by DIL Tullamore.

The organising committee were simply blown away by the generosity and support of the people of Tullamore and the surrounding areas and are thrilled to have been in a position to host such a wonderful event in the community.

It was a pleasure to have James O’Connor to cut the ribbon at the start line and organisers are delighted to have partnered with the Tullamore Goes Green Campaign this year and will continue to work closely with them on raising awareness around mental health.

The Committee would like to make particular mention of the main local sponsors Dunnes Stores, The Bridge Centre, Leavy’s Centra and Tullamore Rugby Club stating that without the support of these sponsors the event would not be possible.

There is an unbelievable amount of planning and preparation behind the scenes and the committee are especially grateful to the stewards and volunteers who make themselves available on the night.

The DIL Tullamore committee would also like to thank each and every person who walked, sponsored, supported and volunteered in any way and shared in Darkness into Light Tullamore and look forward to hosting the event again in 2020.

DIL Tullamore also ask that people continue to remain mindful of friends and neighbours and continue to share the DIL message of HOPE. Pieta House offer 24/7 support and can be contacted on 1800 247 247.
