TULLAMORE Cycling and Touring Club would like to wish the best of luck to Gordon Boland heading to Kerry Group Rás Mumhan this weekend.

Gordon has been selected to race on Team Gerry McVeigh Cars following his recent success on the racing circuit. Ras Mumhan is the first major stage race of the Irish Cycling season and will take place over the four days of Easter weekend, April 19th- 22nd.

Gordon started open racing with Tullamore CTC just a few short weeks ago, entering the racing scene in the A4 league. At entry level

At the beginning of March Gordon won his very first competitive race in Summerhill.

The very next day Gordon traveled to Navan and finished in 2nd place at the Cycleways Cup which automatically upgraded him to A3 league.

Gordon's winning ways continued taking a 3rd and 4th place finish in his first two A3 races.

These results propelled him into the A2 rankings among some of the best riders in the country.

Following his great win at Bohermeen on April 7th an opportunity to race in the Rás Mumhan 2019 was presented to Gordon.

Gordon's achievements over the last couple of weeks have been a true testament of his dedication and commitment to training over the long Winter months. Tullamore Cycling and Touring Club are very proud of their club mate and wish him all the best.


Tullamore Cycling and Touring Club racers headed to Bellewstown on Sunday last to compete in the Coombe's Connor Memorial promoted by Drogheda Wheelers. The wind and rain made for a tough days racing but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the strong Tullamore squad.Morgan Byrne made an impressive racing debut when he finished the A4 race in 5th place. More results to be expected from Byrne in the season ahead following his successful start. Well done to all who raced over the weekend; Damien Dunne, Dermot Keyes, Olivier Duputis(A4), Peter Gillespie (A3) and Gordon Boland (A2).Thanks to Rosemarie Gillespie for travelling on Sunday to support the team. Next week, Easter Sunday, the racing team will take part in Ras an Laois in Rathdowney. All support welcome.On April 7th many TCTC members took part in a fundraising cycle for paracyclist Declan Slevin organised by Rosemount cycling club. Tullamore Cycling and Touring Club would like to wish Declan all the best in his bid for Tokyo 2020.
